Hakuna Matata!!

Jalsa, creating wonders to producer. Pawan, Illeana, Devi Sri, Trivikram, publicity and mobile game, all created huge hype and buzz around Jalsa. It is refreshing film for Pawan fans. All I can say about this movie after watching couple of times is 'partlu partlu ga chustey bagane undey' [Trivikram's dialogue from Nuvve Nuvve]. All who watched it first day or first week might have missed many Trivikram's Punches. With his impeccable comedy timing once again Pawan engrossed audience with laughs. In current generation leading actors, only Ravi Teja can meet Pawan's timing. Set to watch it third time and own a dvd.

Laxman, the most underrated cricketer

Ganguly played a defining match winning innings in the 3rd test against SA. Although bowlers did their job well, it was Ganguly's 87 that made the difference. As usual, everyone forgot Laxman's knock which was also crucial in India's win. His 50 was completely ignored.

OBC RESERVATIONS

Same old discussion do we need reservations?? reminds me of an inter college Elocution competition on reservations, one guy started in a distinct way saying why can't we have reservations here in this competition? Coming to OBC reservations, the supreme court although gave verdict favorable to the politicians, we can see atleast 27% increase of seats in IIMs and IITs. The verdict also states that no Bachelors graduate gets reservation. So this reservation shouldnot apply for any Masters program. Still the confusion prevails, How to implement it in IIMs which have only Masters program. Same case with Masters program in IITs.

Plagiarism: Indian Cinema

Two weeks back I watched the movie RACE. I thought it was a good movie with lot of twists in it. Three days later I was browsing thrillers on Netflix, I found a movie GOODBYE LOVER(1999). Surprisingly I got to know RACE is a freemake of GOODBYE LOVER. I browsed through all movies directed by ABBAS-MASTAN. Here is the list::
Naqaab---Dot The I
Race---GoodBye Lover
Baazigar-- A Kiss Before Dying
Daraar---Sleeping with the Enemy
Baadshah-- Nick of Time and Rush Hour
Chori Chori Chupke Chupke -- Surrogate Mother
Ajnabee ---Consenting Adults
Humraaz ---The Perfect Murder
Taarzan The Wonder Car --- The Wraith
Aitraaz --- Fatal Attraction
36 China Town --- 50 Ways of Dying
The trend looks like Pritam's and Anu Malik's Music. Not only this duo most of indian directors lifted many themes, scenes and fight sequences. Some credited the originals and some got credit for stealing the original.

Genetic Variations: Smoking and Cancer

A smoker who inherits the genetic variation from both parents has an 80% greater chance of lung cancer than a smoker without the variants. On average they have two extra cigarettes a day and a much harder time quitting than smokers who do not have these genetic differences. The three studies, funded by governments in the US and Europe, is being published in the journals Nature and Nature Genetics. The genetic variations could eventually help explain some of the mysteries of chain smoking, nicotine addiction and lung cancer that cannot be explained as environmental factors, brain biology and statistics, experts said.

These oddities include why there are 100-year-old smokers who don't get cancer and people who light up an occasional cigarette and do not get hooked.

The new studies point to surprising areas of the genes not associated with pleasure and addiction rewards. That may help explain why people have trouble quitting, said Dr Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute of Drug Abuse, which funded one of the studies. Eventual testing for the genetic variants could lead to custom treatments for quitting smoking.

The studies mostly looked at smokers and ex-smokers - although two of the studies also looked at several hundred non-smokers. The research only involved white people of European descent. People of Asian and African descent will be studied soon and may yield different results, scientists said.

Smoking-related diseases worldwide kill about one in 10 adults, according to the World Health Organisation.

Nashik: The wine capital

Nashik, long famous for its grapes has become the subcontinent's Sonoma Valley, the heart of $100 million industry that has seen annual growth of more than 25% from 2003. Most indian wine bottles cost $10 which are more affordable compared to foreign wines which are heavily imposed by import duty and excise taxes. Things have changed with people becoming wealthier with economy boom and more Wineries are opened to quench their thirst. For instance a bollywood actress 10 years back would drink on screen to show her character is of loose moralsand now it is done for elegance. Although we still need to improve our exports.
